{TAC} Post 4: Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!

...a day early.  This was my Thanksgiving card this year.  I used the TAC set "Contemporary Greetings" -- so love this set.  Perhaps it will available again soon.  I hope so.

This was a super simple card to mass produce.  The leaves are a new Shapeabilities die called Foliage.

I stamped the greeting on the PTI Kraft cardstock, then positioned the die and ran it thru my Grand Calibur machine.
Behind the cutout I positioned 3"x4" piece patterned paper, K&Company {Best of K&Co 360 page paper stack}.  I put 4 pop dots on the back of the kraft cardsock around the cut out then held it over the piece of patterned paper, positioned it and pressed down.  Added 4 more pop dots to the corners and attached it to the base card (Bazzill Ruby Red).

Here is another version I made for the homebound ministry...
Check out what the other chicks are up to today...

Amber Ink: Such a Fungi

Today, I have my last Amber Ink Design Team post.  {Sigh}  It has been a fun month.  Well, besides a recap next week and the passing of the torch.

This is one of my favorites - "Such a Fungi".  Hilarious! Love the play on words.  This image is only 50 cents!  Can you believe it??  You get 2 images too, one with hearts and one without.  What a deal!

This card was made with my "little" brother in mind.  Tomorrow is his birthday.{He will be 39} I hope he gets a kick out it. I think he will.  He IS such a fungi - I mean fun guy.

The plaid paper is also Amber Ink ipaper "Schoolgirl Plaid - Goldenrod Tiny".
Supplies -- Amber Ink "Such a Fungi", Amber Ink ipaper "Schoolgirl Plaid - Goldenrod Tiny", Bazzill Cheddar and Pear, Copic X-Press It cardstock, Copic Markers.

Biblical Impressions: Cardinal

Happy Sunday!

I have a Biblical Impressions image to share today.  I've been wanting to use this image for awhile.  I bought it because it reminded me of my mother-in-law. The first Christmas I spent with Mark's family, many years ago now, was in Ohio at his mothers house.  Her tree was decorated with red cardinals - it was SO striking.  So this is her birthday card, which is next Saturday. I know she will love it.

It was an image on a full plate I bought called "Stocking". It has some great Christmas and winter images. I hope to use the ornaments on the same plate soon.

The "pine sprig" is from a different plate called "landscape".  I did find this one individually #38916 Pine Sprig $2.75.
Supplies -- Biblical Impressions Cardinal, PTI Pure Poppy and Kraft cardstock, Bazzill Salsa Verde cardstock, Copic XPress It cardstock, Copic Markers, Copic Opaque white (snow), Memento Black ink, Palette Burnt Umber ink.

Copic Colors: R22, R24, R29, R59, YG93, YG95, YG97, E55, E57, E59, W-1

Thanks for stopping by...

{TAC} November Blog Hop: Nina B

Today we have a {TAC} hop!  We LOVE Nina B.

I have a card created with a Nina B image called "Dotted Peony".  It is available again thru Layers of Color!  The dots are from the hostess set "Circles of Love".

The line of dots were stamped using Belle Rose Palette ink on Bazzill Raspberry Splash cardstock.
I used Nestabilities Oval and Label 18, stamped the image using Memento tuxedo black ink.  The green cardstock is Bazzill Kiwi Crush.  The image was colored using Copic Markers: R32, R35, R37, YG63, YG67.

This card was for the last class I taught as an Angel Company demo. {Sigh}  When I taught Copic coloring techniques, I learned that step by step coloring keys work really will.  This was a "shoe box gathering" set up, my open house, so I did the instruction all on one sheet to go with the shoebox of supplies to create the card.  If it were a sit down party atmosphere where we were creating the card together, I would create a key for each color.  That way everyone could start coloring with one color family then trade colors with their neighbor.  This also worked very well.

This is the step by step coloring instruction for this card...
This teaching technique was something I shared during my seminar presentation.  I have several examples from classes I had done over the last couple years.  Other {former} angels taught in a similar way, maybe you do too.

I show every step in my color key, where I add the colors and also the blending steps.  This way anyone can follow it even someone who had never picked up a Copic marker before.

One of the questions I was asked at seminar is if I let people use my markers - yes I do.  (I let children use my markers too)  Life is short - share the joy.  The tips are replaceable if there is a mishap.

We would love it if you joined our {TAC} blog hop!  Entries must use a Nina B set which appeared in the 2011 TAC catalog.  To join our hop, link in using the button below and the full address to your blog post.

One lucky hopper will win the Nina B set “Katy”!  {Thanks SO much Nina!}  The winner will be chosen at random; design team members are not eligible to win.  This challenge is open until 11:54 pm (CST) Tuesday, November 22nd, so please join us!

Be sure to visit all the chicks:

Hope you enjoy the rest of the Nina B. hop.

Deb

Today, we have a Totally Papercrafts challenge - Black and White sponsored by Amber Ink!  I used a new ipaper "Alice Diamonds, Whoopie Pie, Itty Bitty" and image "Gumdrop Penguin - May I Help You?" from Amber Ink.

I colored the penguin with a black gel pen.  Very penguin-like don't you think?

Hope you enjoyed today's post.  Check out the Amber Ink blog.

Amber Ink: Love Bunny - Kiss Kiss

Today, I have another post for the Amber Ink Design Team.  I'm featuring an image from Amber's "Love Bunny" line called "Kiss-Kiss - Fluffy Bottoms".  Love it!

Another perfect image, this one for my sister's anniversary card December 15th!  I'm getting so much done.  I'm ahead - Yay!
I got out my Coluzzle templates - I had a funky heart shape that I think is the perfect background.  The fluffy tails were painted with Copic Opaque White.  The sentiment is from Biblical Impressions.

Supplies -- Amber Ink "Love Bunny - Kiss Kiss - Fluffy Bottoms", Biblical Impressions "Just For You", PTI Kraft cardstock, Bazzill Quartz, Coluzzle Heart template, Copic Opaque White, Kai mini scissors, Noir Palette ink.

Biblical Impressions: Every Good

Happy Sunday,

Today, I have a simple card which is actually made from a left over scrap.  This is the negative of the Shapeabilities Grommet Tags I used in my November 7th MRO Friends post.  The die leaves a great window shape, perfect for a verse or sentiment.

The verse is from Biblical Impressions "Every Good" ($2.75).  Stamped with Burnt Umber Palette ink.

I've had this ribbon for quite a long time and haven't used it until now.  It is from May Arts.   I haven't created a card around a ribbon in awhile.

I pulled the cardstock colors from the ribbon, PTI Kraft, Terracotta Tile, Spring Moss.  The button is also from PTI - Fine Linen Vintage buttons and rustic cream button twine too.

Hope you enjoyed today's card!
Blessings to you...

{TAC} Post 3: New Creation

Today I'm featuring a project: a covered composition notebook. I have made several of these over the past couple months and they all turned out different.
I thought this would be a great notebook for bible study, a prayer journal, any purpose really. It has a matching pen and bookmark. I used Maggie SWIC, cardstock and ribbon for this project. The stamp set is TAC New Creation.
I found Pentel brand pens at WalMart. The great thing about these pens is the end of the pen twists off, so patterned paper can be inserted in the barrel. LOVE that.

I covered the front and back covers of the notebook with Maggie light purple cardstock. It was cut to 8" x 12", then I ran it thru my Xyron machine to make it a huge sticker. The inner liner piece is also from Maggie, cut to 9-1/2" x 6-3/4", then ran thru the Xyron machine.
I lined up the cardstock with the edge of the black binding on the notebook for both the front and back. There was about 1" of cardstock hanging over on the 3 sides.

I cut the corner out of the cardstock creating 3 tabs.
Folded the tabs over.

I didn't worry about the rounded corner on the notebook, I made it square and bent over the point, like a hard cover book.
The front cover was straight forward, just added the patterned liner piece on the inside to finish it. The back cover, however, I taped down the ends of the ribbon bookmark and loops (front and back) for the pen first, then added my inner liner.
I stamped the image using Mementos Tuxedo Black ink on Ivory cardstock. I colored it with Copic markers. Before I started, I tested my colors on a scrap piece of ivory paper - YR15, YR21, YR23, YR24, V20, V25, RV63, RV66, RV69, YG93, YG97, YG99.

I added some pastel blue chalk as a background. I went over the whole image, which does give the colored areas a cloudy look. The great thing about chalk is that it is erasable. I did go over the colored areas with an eraser so the colors would be more vibrant. I distressed the image around the edges with Cognac palette ink, then added some Burnt Umber palette ink. This is my favorite distressing/aging technique.

The image is matted with Maggie dark purple, green cardstock.  I added ribbon and a bow (Maggie). The image is attached to the front cover with pop dots.

Supplies -- Stamps: TAC New Creation, Papers: Maggie SWIC and Cardstock, Kraft and Brown Cardstock, Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, Cognac Palette, Burnt Umber Palette, Pastel Chalks, Copic Markers.

Here are a couple other versions:

TAC God So Loved and TAC Winchester SWIC
Copic on Kraft cardstock: YR15, YR21, YR23, YR24, E55, E57, E59, V17, V25

Amber Ink: Time to Leaf iPaper

Today, I have some new Fall ipapers to show off for Amber Ink.  This is "Time to Leaf - Goldenrod".  If it is not already available - it will be soon.

Amber Ink has great digital papers. They are high resolution and the detail and colors are brilliant when print on your home printer.   Love the colors of this paper, really wonderful Fall colors.  There 3 more color palettes available in this leaf pattern.
I cut some of the leaves out from the paper and a added them to the sentiment with some coordinating buttons.

Supplies -- Amber Ink ipaper "Time to Leaf - Goldenrod", Quote The Angel Company, Bazzill Pomegranate, Ivory cardstock, Nestabilities Labels 18, Bag-O-Buttons "Hall Pass", PTI Rustic Cream Button Twine.

Hope you enjoyed this post.  Check out the Amber Ink blog!

Mabelle RO: Friends

Happy Monday!

Today, I have a Mabelle RO rubber stamp image to show.  Mabelle has digi's of course, but she also recently came out with a rubber stamp line too.  Her rubber stamps are deep etched red rubber mounted with cling foam.  There is some trimming required.

If you like to index your stamps (like I do), I have instructions on how I do that here.  Or see the "Indexing Your Stamps" tab above on this blog to get to the link also.

This image is from the set "Friends".  I thought I would use one of the smaller images from the set.
I also used a Shapeabilities die I hadn't used yet - "Grommet Tags".  I cut the shape out in 2 cardstock colors, PTI Kraft and PTI Aqua Mist.  Stamped on the kraft tag, cut out the center portion and layered it on the aqua tag.  The image was stamped on X-Press It cardstock, colored with Copic markers, cut out and layered on the Kraft tag.

The scalloped and embossed detail at the bottom of the orange cardstock is Nestabilities Labels 17.

There is a "Dress it Up" micro-mini "Romance" button in the top grommet hole.  I found them online at Joann.com.  They are tiny.

Supplies -- Mabelle RO Friends, Simple Stories Year.o.graphy, PTI Pure Poppy, Orange Zest, Aqua Mist and Kraft cardstock, X-Press It Cardstock, Mini Button, PTI Thread, Spellbinders Grommet Tags and Label 17, Memento Tuxedo Black ink, Copic markers

Copic Colors: R46, R59, YR04, YR07, YG93, YG95, YG97

Hope you enjoyed today's Mabelle DT post.

Biblical Impressions: Scripture

Happy Sunday!

I mentioned the service project at church for our missionaries several weeks ago.  In my first Biblical Impressions post "Hope Love", I shared the card for the missionaries care packages.
I wanted to share one of the projects.  I thought this was an amazing idea.  We called it {30 Days of Encouragement}.

The idea was to create a package of cards, 30, with encouraging scripture on one side.  On the other side, the blank side, a personal message of encouragement or prayer or thank you was written during our service activity.  30 days worth of encouragement a new card, new prayer, new scripture each day.

This was actually how I was recruited to help with this service project - my husband came home and asked if I would cut out the cards using my Nestabilities dies. I said sure.

Little did I know that they wanted 30 for each missionary and we were creating care packages for 12 missionaries.  360 cards - whew.

It went fast actually with my Grand Calibur.  I chose 6 dies and cut 2 sheets of cardstock at a time.  This actually cut and embossed at the same time with one run through the machine.  Praise God!

Then I chose 30 different scripture verses.  Biblical Impressions has whole sheets of amazing scripture verses, different fonts, different translations for a great variety.  They were really perfect.  Again Praise God!
This project was very well received and the personal messages written on the back of each card were truly amazing.  Turned out better than we could have ever imagined.  Praise God!

I packaged them using a clear envelope and made a simple header with kraft cardstock (4.25 x 4.5"). The resealable end of the envelope is at the bottom so it can be opened and the cards can be taken out without removing the header. I punched 2 holes through the folded header and bottom of the envelope about 1/2" in and tied it all together with a ribbon.

I really loved this project.  My prayer is that the missionaries are uplifted by this personalized and prayer filled gift from those who created their care package.

Blessings this week...

Memory-Works and Unity Stamps

Hi All,

I signed up with Memory-Works a few weeks ago.  In this past weeks posts, I have been using some of the name brand paper lines they carry.  Today, I'm using both their patterned papers and some of the stamps they carry.  They carry Unity Stamps.

I have 2 cards to share today.  The first one uses "Hello My Friend".

This is how they come, deep etched red rubber, mounted and pre-cut.

The foam is black which kind of threw me for a loop, because I like to index my stamps.  It is not too late once they are mounted. I have step by step instructions just go to the "Indexing your Stamps" tab above.
Then I thought - I wonder if Palette New Canvas (white) would work and it did!  Yay!  Ok - back to the card.
The heart consists of 3 layers.  The base is yellow cardstock (PTI Lemon Tart), orange patterned paper heart on top of that and the flowers are the 3rd layer, white Xpress it cardstock colored with Copic markers.  The patterned cardstock is Crate Paper "Farmhouse".
The second card is "Call Me".  I used Basic Grey "Little Black Dress" patterned paper for this card.
A little bakers twine to finish the card and this is a really quick one.

These stamps are from the Spring 2011 Memory-Works catalog. Both stamp sets are on clearance, so if you like them - now is the time to contact your Memory-Works consultant, because quanities are limited.

Cleck out the clearance area online. That is really the reason I joined, so many pretty things in one place, plus great clearance discounts.  I love a sale!

The new catalog came out in September, all new papers, all new stamps.  I have a link to the new catalog on my left side bar.

If you would like to learn more about Memory-Works or a catalog drop me an e-mail.

Hope you enjoyed today's Memory-Works post.
Blessings,
Deb
