LMM: Angels, Clouds or Rainbows

Happy Thursday!

There is a new challenge at Little Miss Muffet today!  The theme is Angels, Clouds or Rainbows.  I made the sweet Cocoa Sugar 'n Spice Doll an angel using the wings and cloud, angel accessories, that were new releases last Thursday.

Cocoa makes a wonderful angel...she is a rubber stamp.  The wings and cloud are digis, so you are able to size them for any image - love that!

I used a brand new summer release paper from Simple Stories called "Summer Fresh".  I made this card for a friend of mine who I will see in June.  I'm very excited to see her.  I only see her once a year around her birthday so that is always fun.

Supplies --
Stamp: Little Miss Muffet Cocoa
Digi: Little Miss Muffet Angel Accessories
Designer paper: Simple Stories "Summer Fresh"
Cardstock: PTI Pure Poppy, RRD Navy
Tools: Die-namics Fishtail Flag stack, Sewing machine with white thread

Hope you will join us for this new challenge.  Remember, if you use a LMM image you don't have to follow the theme and can enter multiple times!

RRD: Red, White and Blue

Happy Memorial Day!

This week at Red Rubber Designs the theme is Red, White and Blue.  This is "America I Love".  I love this image, perfect for Memorial Day or 4th of July, which will be here before we know it.
The image was colored with Copic markers, then aged with Cognac and Burnt Umber inks around the edges.

I create a flag to match the sails with 2 embossing folders, stars and stripes. I went over the blue stars with embossing ink to give more definition.  I used R46 Copic marker to go over the embossed stripes to create the red and white stripe.  I stitched with white thread around the perimeter and down the seam between the stars and stripes. I used a stipple brush and palette inks to knock down the white a bit.

Supplies--
Stamp Set: America I Love
Copic Colors: R46, R59, E00, E09, E11, E13, E21, E33, E35, E37, YG91, YG93, YG95, 9YG7, B91, B95, B99, W1, W3

RRD - Birds, Bees and Flowers

Today, I have a project to share for my Red Rubber Designs post.  It is a card box with a variety of cards in it.  I saw this box idea last month on a challenge blog and thought it was so clever.  I decided to design an A2 sized box and kick it up a notch by making it a box full of coordinating cards.  Awesome gift idea!
I used the patterned cardstock "Maggie" because I love the colors and it is double sided which is perfect for this box.
The box is 4.5" x 6" perfect for A2 envelopes and cards. I made it 1-1/8" deep so you can get several cards with envelopes in this gift box.

I made 3 different cards.  My intent when I started was to create "simple cards", but ended up using pop dots, ribbon and stitching on each.  Even with the pop dots and ribbon which can be bulky, I still have room for a couple more cards.  So, depending on how flat the cards are you can get quite a few in this size box.
The separate cover creates a gate fold on top. I adhered the bottom of the box to the cover. {You could leave it separate or create a sleeve like a matchbox}
The front, I decorated with a Nestabilities {Labels 5} die cut and tag from Maggie's die cut sheet.  The left flap is 1/8" longer so when it is closed there is no gap.  To create a closure, I added 2 antique triangle loops and 2 metallic mini brads and some Maggie ribbon.

I created 3 different cards to go inside this gift box.  All the cards use Maggie patterned cardstock and Maggie ribbon to coordinate with the box.
 Here is the first card.
I used the new release set Be Fabulous
  Copic Colors: R59, R81, RV69,
YR20, YR21, YR23, YR24, YG91, YG93
Nestabilities Standard Circles Large

The second card uses the new release set "All Things of Nature".  I also used the background stamp "Victorian Squares" and Seascape Palette ink on the blue patterned cardstock. It is blue on blue and did not show up very well in the pictures.

Copic Colors: E31, E33, E35, E37, E47, V000, R81,
YR23, YR24, YG93, YG95, BG70, B60
Nestabilities Fleur De Lis Squares

The last card uses the new release "Just Bee-cuz".
The eyelet is Toodle Loo hardware.
  Copic Colors: T2, T3, T5, T7, YR21, YR23, YR24,
YG93, YG95, BG70, B60, V000
Nestabilities Labels 16

Red Rubber Designs: Father's Day

The theme this week at Red Rubber Designs is Father's Day.  The stamp set I used today is Mountain Scenery and patterned cardstock is Willoughby.

I tried a new {to me} Copic technique this week.  Can you tell something is different?  I stamped the image with London Fog Memento Ink rather than standard black.  It definitely gives the look of a painting, rather than an outline colored in - don't you think?
I used 2 of the images from Mountain Scenery, the mountain range and added the small open tree on the left for more forest foliage.  Then, I colored the image adding the greens, browns, blues and violets to the gray stamped image.  Copic Colors: E33, E37, B41, BV23, BV31, BG70, YG91, YG93, YG95, YG97, W1, W2, W3.  The top of the hill looks like I added something to it to make it look like moss, but it is just the ink build up, the cardstock is fully saturated.

The colored image is matted with brown cardstock.  Then, added it to the layered patterned cardstock on the brown base card.  The Father's Day sentiment is from Contemporary Greetings and stamped with Burnt Umber Palette Ink on a die cut tag from the Willoughby collection.  This tag has a wide slit perfect for a ribbon.  Since Willoughy is a white core cardstock I ran the side of a brown marker around the edges of the tag so the white edge would be covered.

Red Rubber Designs: Patriotic

This weeks theme at Red Rubber Designs is "Patriotic", so I chose the new release "United We Stand".  This is a great set and I had Memorial Day in mind when making this card.

It is a pretty simple card.  The stars are dry embossed on the Red, Kraft and Navy cardstock.  Then I brushed an embossing pad over the cardstock to accent the embossing.  If you have an embossing ink pad with sparkle in it that would be a great look too.
The image was stamped with Burnt Umber Palette ink.  I used a stipple brush and Raw Sienna and Cognac ink to give a bit of a vintage or old photograph look.  I stamped the sentiment on some Kraft cardstock and cut the ends like a banner with my Kai 4" scissors.  Then, stippled the banner with the 3 inks and attached it with pop dots of varying thicknesses.

Mabelle RO: Loo Loo

Happy Mabelle Monday!

This is Loo Loo - a new image from Mabelle RO, released a few weeks ago.  She is ready to dance and I've created a little dance studio for her.

The patterned papers are My Mind's Eye Fiddlesticks.  This is actually the last of the new papers I bought for Spring.  I can't believe I used them all once already.  I usually don't want to cut into them and they sit and the season passes.  I think I'm getting better!
I popped her bow and snout.  Her tutu is also layered, glued down at the waist and popped at the edges.

RRD: Hey Life Blog Hop

It is the 1st Thursday of the month, which means there are new releases at Red Rubber Designs!  To celebrate, we are having a hop using one of the new stamp sets available today called "Hey Life".
The bicycle lady image and 2 sentiments are all from "Hey Life".  I chose the patterned paper collection Amberley Grace.  I used 2 patterned papers and 2 tags from the die cut sheet.  The corner accent is from the Pemberley Bay Matchbook kit, which matches Amberley Grace.  The hub of the bicycle wheels are metallic mini brads.
The 2.5" diameter circle punch creates a perfect mat for this round tag. The tag was added to the lower corner and the edges were trimmed. I added an eyelet from the coordinating Amberley Grace hardware to the tag, thru the front of the base card using the Big Bite.  It was just a bit farther in, more than an inch, so my Crop-a-dile couldn't quite get there.  Lastly, I added coordinating ribbon thru the eyelet and tied a bow.

Blog Hop Contest:

The Bicycle Lady needs a name - and we need your help to find it!  Each blog on the hop (except the Red Rubber Designs Blog) has one of the letters of the Bicycle Lady's name somewhere in their blog hop post. Once you find all seven letters (that's a hint!) put them together to form her name. You may have to rearrange them a little bit!

Note: The letter you need from each blog will be obvious if you read carefully.... it looks just a little different from the rest of the letters!

Once you figure it out, email the name to contest@RedRubberDesigns.com and be sure to put your name and email address in the email with the Bicycle Lady's name. Every correct answer (there's only one correct name) will be entered into a drawing for the featured stamp set, "Hey Life" and one winner will be chosen at random. Good luck!

Contest ends Sunday, May 6th at Midnight (US-CT).

Red Rubber Designs is releasing 8 other stamp sets today.  Here is one of the new sets for May - "America I Love"...

See more new releases at each stop on the blog hop.  I'm featuring "America I Love" on my blog May 28th {Memorial Day}.  It is a great image, so fun to color.

Here is the hop list if you need to start at the beginning.

There are also some changes at RRD starting tonight.  Shipping costs have been reduced to $6.95 for orders under $99 - FREE for orders more than $99. This is a permanent change not a special.
